You’re Just Our Type!

Studio Matthews is a Seattle-based, woman-owned business, and practice of designers, teachers, and makers. Founded in 2008, the studio works across many platforms: exhibitions and interpretation, wayfinding, workplace environments, branding, and placemaking. They are known for their award-winning designs (many from SEGD!) as well as their focus on environmental responsibility. A series of the studio’s recent interpretation projects in Seattle now stretches across 50 acres — from Pioneer Square through the regenerated downtown waterfront up through Olympic Sculpture Park and northward along Elliott Bay Connections. All free and open to the public.

Experimenting with typography — how they can push, pull, and super-size letterforms, and turn them into stories — is a huge part of what they do. Join us for an evening to explore, connect, and talk type.

Project Share-Outs

The studio team will present three short case studies, sharing an array of mock-ups and material samples from their extensive library.
