Behind the Scenes | Camouflage: Designed to Deceive at the International Spy Museum

The International Spy Museum has always pushed the boundaries of immersive exhibition design and their newest special exhibition is no exception. Camouflage: Designed to Deceive is a multi-sensory experience spanning the intersecting worlds of science, design, military history, art, fashion, and pop culture, and this month we’re getting an exclusive look at how it was made.

Join us on June 17th, 12:30–1:30pm ET as we hear directly from the team behind this one-of-a-kind guest experience. Kathryn Keane, Vice President of Exhibitions and Collections at the International Spy Museum, will share the vision and goals for the exhibition, while Amanda Champ Scherer of Cortina Productions, Andrea Worby, Content Director, and Joshua Graver, Director of Visual Experience Design — both of Local Projects — will walk us through how that vision was brought to life, from immersive media to the overall guest experience design.

The mission of SEGD’s Museum Exhibition Professional Practice Group (ME-PPG) is to elevate the art, science, creative, and intellectual endeavors of museum exhibitions by bringing together a robust community of people from within museum institutions, from the industry’s network of professional service providers, and emerging museum professionals.

Connect with the community and explore topics of interest, recent chat threads, and the latest happenings in the ME-PPG’s dedicated GlueUp Channel (SEGD membership required for access).

Engagement Opportunities

Participants will explore various topics, from contract terms and design processes to best practices and professional development. Engagement opportunities include monthly Zoom meetings, collaborative sessions on Miro boards, a dedicated channel on GlueUp, and in-person gatherings at SEGD events. These platforms ensure ongoing, dynamic interaction and collaboration within the group.
