Join SEGD Boston for a holiday Ugly Mug Swap—an evening of creativity, community, and design inspiration hosted at Gensler’s Boston Office!

First, we will enjoy a fascinating presentation from Gensler’s Jenn Contois, Senior Technical Environmental Graphic Designer, highlighting a recent project for the historic Vinoy Resort & Golf Club in St. Petersburg, FL that beautifully blends branding and technology.

After the case study, we invite you to help us cheer on the holiday season with our festive Ugly Mug Swap. Bring the ugliest, funniest, kitschiest, or most outrageous mug you can find—wrapped and ready for surprise! The goal is to spark laughter, surprises, and team bonding.

Rules to play:

• Mug must be wrapped so the design is a secret.
• Keep it under $10, thrifted or regifted.

About the Project:

Gensler led a comprehensive rebranding of a historic hotel, transforming everything from identity and digital collateral to signage and guest experience. One of the most striking updates replaced generic pink walls with custom precast concrete monuments inspired by the hotel’s iconic window—an homage to nearly a century of history. In collaboration with DCL, the team used 3D scanning and Rhino modeling to fabricate intricate, storm-resistant concrete sculptures that marry craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology.
