Accessibility at 2025 SEGD Conference Experience San Francisco

We are committed to ensuring the SEGD Conference is designed to be inclusive and accessible for all attendees. Below is detailed information regarding accessibility features, accommodations, and how to request specific services.

To submit any accommodation requests, please contact Jennette Foreman at Jennette@segd.org.

Accessible Transit

The San Francisco Marriott Marquis does not offer a shuttle service to and from the airport. The hotel is accessible by BART, ride-sharing services (Uber/Lyft), or a taxi to get to and from the airport.

  • BART: The BART subway station is located in the airport, and you can take it to a downtown station near the hotel.
  • Ride-sharing: Services like Uber and Lyft are available for airport pickup.
  • Taxi: Taxis are another option available outside the airport terminals.

Hotel Accessibility

A limited number of accessible rooms are available for each room type, so book in advance to ensure availability. Select the accessible room option when you make your reservation.

  • Accessible Rooms: The San Francisco Marriott Marquis offers accessible guest rooms equipped with roll-in showers, grab bars, and other features to accommodate guests with mobility needs. Please contact the hotel directly for room requests.
  • Service Animals: The hotel welcomes service animals.
  • Wheelchair Access: The hotel is fully wheelchair-accessible, with elevators to all floors and meeting rooms.

Please note that the hotel does not provide a dedicated lactation room; however, special accommodations can be made upon request. Contact us at the registration counter or Jennette@segd.org for assistance.

American Sign Language (ASL)

We currently do not provide ASL interpretation services; however, they can be arranged upon request. If you need an interpreter for sessions or networking events, please contact us at least one week before the conference to ensure your needs are accommodated.

Captioning

CART (human-generated) captioning will be available upon request for all sessions. Please notify us at least one week in advance if you require captioning services.

Visual Descriptions

We aim to have speakers verbally describe any visual content during their presentations, although we cannot guarantee 100% compliance. If you require additional accommodations, please contact Jennette@segd.org before the event.

Sensory Friendly Accommodations

A quiet, sensory-friendly room will be available for attendees who need a space to recharge. This space is located in the Laurel room on the B2 Level of the San Francisco Marriott Marquis near the Golden Gate Ballroom. Access can be arranged at the SEGD Conference registration counter upon request.

Tours and Mobility

A significant part of the Thursday afternoon SEGD Conference experience includes tours to local sites. Some tours require bus and/or public transportation, while others involve walking or biking. Please see below for tour access and mobility details:

  • San Francisco E-Bike Tour – Must be able to ride a two-wheeled bicycle for two hours.
  • Arion Press and Exploratorium – Shuttle bus provided.
  • Autodesk (1.0 mile), Oracle Park (1.0 mile), Salesforce Park (0.5 mile), SFMOMA (0.1 mile), and 50 Fremont St. Digital Experience Salesforce Tower (0.5 mile) – Walking from the hotel to the location
  • Letterform, Minnesota Street Project, Mission Murals – Walking from the hotel to public transportation
  • Design Improv – Located within the hotel

Once on site, each tour will require significant walking and periods of standing. For attendees who may have difficulty walking long distances, we recommend participating in the Design Improv Workshop, which will take place at the hotel. Please contact Rachel Moran, Membership Experience Manger, rachel@segd.org, if you need to switch your tour to remain on-site and attend Design Improv.

COVID-19 Information

Masking is welcome but not required at the SEGD Conference. If you have any symptoms or if you should be isolated, please do not attend the conference. Nearly all networking events will take place indoors, except the Global Design Awards Reception hosted at the Fairmont Roof Garden.

For any additional needs or accommodations, please contact Jennette Foreman at Jennette@segd.org.
