Accessibility at 2024 SEGD Xlab
We are committed to ensuring the SEGD Xlab is designed to be inclusive and accessible for all attendees. Below is detailed information regarding accessibility features, accommodations, and how to request specific services.
To submit any accommodation requests, please contact Jennette Foreman at Jennette@segd.org.
Transit
SVA Theater is located 333 West 23 Street, New York NY 10011 (map). The closest subway station is at the intersection of W 23rd St. and 8th Ave. SVA Theater provides transportation suggestions here.
SVA Theater Accessibility
Wheelchair Accessible
SVA Theater is wheelchair accessible. Should you be using a wheelchair, we recommend arriving at least 30 minutes in advance of the event’s start time in case the use of a wheelchair lift is required. If you need to use one of our wheelchair lifts, please locate the house manager on duty or visit our office, which is found immediately to the left upon entering the building.
Assistive Listening Devices
If you are in need of one of these devices, please locate the SVA Theater house manager on duty or visit our office, which is found immediately to the left upon entering the building. We require a piece of identification (preferably a driver’s license) in exchange for the device, which will be returned after the event.
Service Animals
Service animals are always permitted into SVA Theatre. We do not permit emotional support animals, even with documentation.
Lactation Room
Please note that SVA Theater does not provide a dedicated lactation room; however, special accommodations can be made upon request. Contact us at the registration counter or Jennette@segd.org for assistance.
American Sign Language (ASL)
We currently do not provide ASL interpretation services; however, they can be arranged upon request. If you need an interpreter for sessions or networking events, please contact us at least one week prior to the conference to ensure your needs are accommodated.
Captioning
Captioning will not be available for this event. SVA Theater can provide assistive listening devices on-site. Please notify us at least one week in advance if we can assist in another way.
Sensory-Friendly Accommodations
A quiet, sensory-friendly room will be available for attendees who need a space to recharge. Access to this location can be arranged at the SEGD Xlab registration counter upon request.
Tours and Mobility
The optional afternoon tours on Wednesday, November 6 involve exploring local studios. Transportation to and from the studios is on your own. The five Brooklyn Navy Yard Studio tours are within walking distance of each other. It is approximately a 10-15 minute walk between the two buildings.
Once on site, each tour will require some walking and periods of standing. For attendees who may have difficulty walking and standing for long periods of time we recommend participating in only a few of the studio tours. Please contact Jennette Foreman, Director of Operations at jennette@segd.org, with any further questions..
Social Networking Mixers
Our evening networking events will be held indoors. On Wednesday evening, the SEGD Xlab Welcome Mixer is at Jungle Bird (map), while the Thursday evening SEGD Xlab Closing Mixer is at Smithfield Hall (map). Transportation to both events is on your own and can be accessed by car, train, and on foot. Each location is approximately a 10-minute walk from SVA Theater and is ADA accessible.
COVID-19 Information
Masking is welcome but not required at the SEGD Xlab. If you have any symptoms or if you should be isolated, please do not attend the event.
For any additional needs or accommodations, please contact Jennette Foreman at Jennette@segd.org.
