2025 SEGD Wayfinding + Placemaking Speaker FAQ

SEGD is bringing our bi-annual event SEGD Wayfinding + Placemaking, to Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. This year’s theme, Transformation, highlights the monumental changes shaping the world of experiential design. SEGD Wayfinding + Placemaking event will emphasize transforming spaces–connecting people; showcasing case studies and strategies for creating meaningful, inclusive, and innovative environments.
Discover the transformative impact of design at 2025 SEGD Wayfinding + Placemaking. Explore how wayfinding and placemaking play a pivotal role in creating meaningful connections between people and their environments. Industry leaders will share insights into how intentional design enhances navigation, reinforces spatial identities, and elevates user experiences, all while cultivating deeper connections to our shared spaces.
SEGD is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit education organization and speaker presentations are not intended for sales or self-promotion of any kind. In addition, note that speakers are not compensated financially and all expenses incurred, including travel to/from the event are the responsibility of the speaker(s). SEGD will promote the speaker(s) and sessions via social media and SEGD’s network. The purpose of SEGD programming is to provide education.
All presentations will be video recorded and made available to all registered attendees post-event.
- Submit completed SEGD Speaker Appearance Agreement by April 4, 2025, to segd-forms@segd.org with your speaker information that was emailed to you by liz@segd.org.
SEGD Wayfinding + Placemaking is an engaging gathering of 200+ thought leaders and innovators in experience design. Our attendees span a diverse spectrum—experience designers, wayfinding experts, urban planners and design firm leaders, alongside mid-to-senior level professionals, emerging talent, and design students. We also welcome educators, client representatives, fabricators, and technologists, creating an exciting mix of perspectives. Whether you’re a returning participant or a first-time attendee, an SEGD member or non-member, SEGD Wayfinding + Placemaking offers a unique platform for connection, inspiration, and collaboration in shaping the future of experience design.
Speaker Information Form
Confirmed speakers will be added to the event agenda website. Please complete the Speaker Information Google Form emailed to you by liz@segd.org within 5-days of receipt. Please have the following information handy when completing the Speaker Information Form:
- Preferred listing of first and last name with credentials, where applicable
- Professional title/role
- Company/institution
- Bio (150-200 words)
- High-res square headshot – JPG or PNG format at 300 dpi at 1080×1080 pixels
- Mobile number for day-of coordination
- Talk Title: 5-word max, working draft
- Talk Description: 50-word max, working draft
Speaker Check-In Meeting
SEGD staff and our event Co-Chairs will coordinate with each of our speakers to set up a short check-in meeting via zoom, to discuss presentation themes and topics, as well as the run-of-show. We will reach out via email to coordinate through a doodle poll or similar.
Speaker presentations are due to SEGD on Friday, April 4, 2025. The presentation upload link is provided in the calendar invite. Please note that we cannot accommodate personal computers or flash drives for the presentation; and we cannot accommodate any edits onsite.
Required SEGD PowerPoint Template
All speaker presentations must be built off of the SEGD-provided PowerPoint slide template shared via email from liz@segd.org.
- Design and Layout: Presentation slides must keep the correct size, aspect ratio, and quality, but speakers can customize fonts, colors, and other design elements to fit their style.
- Presentations with Embedded Videos: Please send the video file for any embedded videos through the upload link in your calendar invite as a technology-back-up plan. Videos requiring internet access cannot be supported (i.e. Vimeo or YouTube).
- Fonts: We recommend using SEGD free fonts for compatibility. If another font must be used, please package and upload with your presentation using the link provided in the calendar invite.

Event Room
2025 SEGD Wayfinding + Placemaking takes place at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center 3950 South Las Vegas Boulevard, Las Vegas, Nevada. Specific room name and number will be shared at a later date.
Speaker Tech Checks + Slide Run-Through
- Morning speakers will report to the mainstage at 7:45 am
- Afternoon speakers will report to the mainstage at 12:00 pm
Speaker Seating + Stage Entrance
- First two rows are reserved for speakers.
- Speakers will walk up the steps adjacent to the podium.
Speaker Introduction
Speakers will be introduced by SEGD, Event Co-Chair or moderator using an abbreviated speaker bio and preferred listing of the speaker’s name, previously provided by the speaker.
Podium, Presentation Computer, Clicker and Mics
- There will be a stationary podium with a stationary microphone and laptop that mirrors the presentation behind you.
- There will be a remote clicker for the speaker’s use in advancing slides on the main SEGD presentation laptop.
- Lavaliers are available upon request, if the speaker prefers to walk around the stage. Please submit this request to liz@segd.org by April 4, 2025.
- Speaker Panels will include one chair for each speaker and 1-3 hand-held mics to be passed between panelists.
Presentation Laptop
- All presentations are integrated into one single main slide deck on the SEGD presentation laptop.
- Our external AV team manages the conference presentations and it’s essential that speaker slides make it into the master deck to meet the AV deadline.
- Please note that we cannot accommodate personal computers or flash drives for the presentation.
