Experiential Design in the Nashville Region

Known for its vibrant music scene and rich cultural heritage, Nashville, Tennessee blends historic charm with rapid urban growth, creating a dynamic environment for experiential design. From bustling Broadway to emerging innovation districts, the city offers fertile ground for imaginative placemaking, branded environments, and inclusive wayfinding.

Notable projects include the National Museum of African American Music, where immersive media and bold environmental graphics celebrate Black musical innovation and culture, and the interactive “Make Your Own Candy!” experience at the Goo Goo Chocolate Co., which blends storytelling, branding, and tactile engagement in a fun, visitor-driven environment. The chapter also honors Nashville native and SEGD Fellow Jane Davis Doggett, whose groundbreaking work in airport signage continues to shape how people navigate complex public spaces around the world.
