Reflecting on 27 Years of Growth

“As I reflect on the last 27 years, I’ve been fortunate enough to come to work every day to do what I love, with a community I love,” said Torp. “From our humble beginnings in the attic of my Highlands Louisville home, to our 55,000 square foot building in Downtown Louisville, I created Solid Light because I wanted to make a true difference. Through the growth of this small business over the last three decades, I’ve had the privilege of telling hundreds of meaningful stories in remarkable ways. More than that, I’ve cherished the deep, lasting connections with our clients and partners, and together, we’ve impacted the hearts and minds of thousands of visitors across the nation.”

Solid Light’s ethos centers on the belief that the tapestry of perspectives in every community and across time holds profound stories to explore and share.Since 1999, the firm has delivered award-winning visitor experiences for museums, tourism and cultural institutions, corporate environments, and public spaces nationwide.

Passing the Torch to the Next Generation

“As a small business owner, it’s been an honor to develop a team that I could pass the torch to, so that they may continue the Solid Light legacy,” Torp continued. “I’ve spent many years preparing for this very moment, and the time is right. Now more than ever, Solid Light’s success can be attributed to the outstanding creatives, producers, leaders, and experience makers that bring our work to life, every day.”

Torp’s decision to move into this next chapter reflects Solid Light’s continued success, forecasted trajectory, and long-term stability. The firm has seen steady year-over-year growth. It now employs over 50 people across Design, Media, Fabrication, Project Management, Market Development, and Business Operations.

Leadership Perspective and Legacy

“For those familiar with Cynthia and her work at Solid Light, her most enduring legacy is her compassion and drive to create human connections,” said Mike McCarthy. “After spending years working alongside her, I am grateful for her clarity of leadership that has navigated the organization through good years and challenging ones, all while providing an empathetic approach to our employees and our community. While this is a bittersweet moment for Solid Light and our industry, Cynthia has dedicated her life to building this firm. We’re so grateful for everything she’s done to get us to this point, and proud to see her take this next step for herself while we continue her legacy of excellence well into the future.”

Looking Ahead to the Future

“I am excited about this next phase,” Torp added. “Thank you to our incredible Solid Light team, and all our clients, partners, and friends that have been there with me on this extraordinary journey. I’m confident that in this new era, Solid Light will continue to exceed expectations and thrive with fresh perspectives, persistent innovations, and captivating experiences.”
