Dimensional Innovations Unveils CreatureVerse Cooperative Video Game for Pediatric Patients

Dimensional Innovations CreatureVerse pediatric video game environment with colorful forest and interactive fantasy world

Dimensional Innovations (DI), an experience design, technology and fabrication firm, has unveiled “CreatureVerse,” a new cooperative video game, throughout waiting-room and patient space available in children’s hospitals and pediatric centers as a positive distraction. The interactive game, controlled via smartphone, blends fantasy and reality and is designed for patients to build unique characters and collaborate with each other while receiving care.

Gameplay portals are installed in rooms throughout hospital patient rooms and public areas. Each can be accessed and controlled via smartphone app, and patients that have logged in can interact, play and work with fellow patients to complete missions carefully crafted by DI’s creative team.

“Our team worked diligently to make sure that this version of ‘CreatureVerse’ catered to every Helen DeVos patient, creating a memorable experience meant to raise their spirits as they endure difficult medical procedures,” said Brandon Kuzara, practice director, corporate and healthcare at Dimensional Innovations. “It’s immensely rewarding to contribute to the amazing work that the team at Helen DeVos carries out on a daily basis. We’re grateful that our creatures and their creative world will help make patients’ lives just a little bit better; and, we cannot wait to hear firsthand about their gameplay experiences.”

In creating the framework for ‘CreatureVerse,’ DI’s designers actively sourced feedback from young patients, ensuring every element related to them to some degree. The free-to-play game allows users to toggle between multiple characters – including an owl and a dinosaur – with several different mission types.
