I founded Studio Joseph in 1998, and I lead the design of each of the firm’s projects, working closely with clients throughout the entire building process—from concept to occupancy. My work focuses on institutional, educational, and cultural projects, with a strong emphasis on the public realm, community engagement, and the arts, including museum-related work for public spaces and exhibition installations.

I hold a BA, summa cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Architecture from Harvard University, where I received the AIA Medal. I am a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, an Academician of the National Academy of Design, and a recipient of the Rome Prize from the American Academy in Rome.

My professional work has included leadership roles at both the local and national levels, and I frequently present Studio Joseph’s work at museums, conferences, and universities. I have served as Chairman of the AIA National Committee on Design, President of the New York Chapter of the AIA, and President of the Architectural League of New York, where I continue to serve as a board member. I am currently President of the National Academy of Design and serve on the boards of City as Living Laboratory, Second Stage Theatre, and American Ballet Theatre.

Before founding Studio Joseph, I spent over a decade at Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, where I worked on major public and cultural projects, including the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Boston Federal Courthouse.
