Ariel Rubin is one half of the award-winning Wild Optimists, an interactive design company devoted to creating new ways to play for location based entertainment, events, brand marketing and at home gaming. Our goal is always to give the players a chance to be the hero.
Ariel graduated from Vassar College and spent her early career in production and writing in Hollywood. She met Juliana over a game of werewolf, and the two dreamed up the first tabletop escape room game: Escape Room In A Box, which they licensed to Mattel. They have since had nine tabletop games published and sold over half a million units.
As audience appetite for interactivity has increased, Wild Optimists have brought their expertise to collaborations with theme parks such as Universal Orlando and Mall of America, marketing campaigns for studios such as Sony and Amazon, and live immersive experiences for companies such as Hasbro, The Gaylord Hotels, AEG, and Area 15.

My super power is
Finding creative solutions to marry game mechanics with story.
I'm looking for

What I love about experience design
I love designing interactives that create moments of connection between strangers and opportunities for people to feel that their choices matter, that they are special and can be a hero.
Best piece of advice I've ever heard
To focus in on what I’m really passionate about doing versus pitching that I can do all the things I’m capable of.
