Hobsonville Point Habitat Markers by Isthmus Group

SEGD is proud to announce the Sustainability Committee’s groundbreaking initiatives for 2024-2025, marking a new chapter in our commitment to fostering sustainable and life-centered design. These initiatives reflect our dedication to advancing the field by inspiring our community to lead in creating solutions that regenerate both our planet and society.

About the Committee

The SEGD Sustainability Committee brings together a dynamic mix of experts from diverse design sectors, including AR, VR, exhibition, environmental graphics, immersive entertainment, architecture, and beyond. This multidisciplinary approach ensures that we push the boundaries of sustainable and regenerative design, harnessing innovation to address the complex environmental challenges of today. Together, through creativity and collaboration, we aim to create a more regenerative future that serves both people and the planet.

Empowering Members with Strategic Goals

The SEGD Sustainability Committee has outlined three major goals for the coming year:

  1. Webinar Series – A new educational webinar series will promote sustainability literacy, offering actionable insights and best practices to help designers integrate sustainability into their work.
  2. Sustainability Focus – We are introducing a dedicated sustainability focus within the SEGD Global Design Awards to highlight and celebrate exceptional contributions to sustainable design.
  3. Comprehensive Resource Bank – We will establish a rich resource bank on the SEGD website, providing valuable tools and guidance for members looking to implement sustainable practices in their projects.

These initiatives are designed to empower our community with the knowledge and resources they need to lead in life-centered, regenerative design.

Envisioning the Impact

The SEGD Sustainability Committee’s initiatives aim to create a ripple effect throughout the design community. By uniting professionals from diverse sectors and establishing clear, actionable goals, we are laying the foundation for lasting change. We invite members to participate by contributing to thought leadership through articles, white papers, and engaging in advocacy, while also sharing their expertise in webinars and SEGD sustainability events.

As these initiatives take shape, they will empower designers to lead with sustainability at the forefront of their work, ensuring that design continues to play a pivotal role in regenerating our planet and creating a more harmonious future for all.

Join us as SEGD and its members pave the way for a more sustainable, life-centered future!
