An experienced senior planner, Jonathan Mugmon has over sixteen years of experience in the development of wayfinding systems, interpretive planning and environmental graphics.
Jonathan Mugmon received a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Graphic Design and a Master of Fine Arts and Graphic Design. Jonathan returned to his alma mater, in Florida, as an Associate Professor to share his wealth of knowledge of design.
He knows how to create timeless design that communicates direct and effective information for circulation, wayfinding and enhanced place-making. He has a deep understanding of the challenges of high profile projects and he is accustomed to working alongside clients, designers, architects, and engineers, project managers. Jonathan has designed and built projects across four continents and strives on each one to create branded designs that are culturally sensitive, contextually compatible and communicate direct and effective information to provide ease of access.
Jonathan Mugmon’s urban design and planning experience covers a wide range of sectors including retail, healthcare, educational campuses, urban realm, and public spaces. As wayfinding lead at AECOM, he successfully delivered a number of large scale, complex projects. His experience includes wayfinding for the city of Orlando, Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, and King Khalid Medical City in Saudi Arabia.
Working from Applied’s office in New York City, Jonathan studies, analyzes and develops transportation plans, liaises with clients, and discovers new business opportunities.
He has recently delivered a wayfinding strategy for Port Canaveral, which is one of the busiest cruise ports in the world, with 3.9 million passengers passing through it annually. Jonathan is currently working on several projects for Applied, including wayfinding systems for Lusail City in Qatar, Sowwah Square, a mixed-use development in Abu Dhabi, and Hudson Yards, the largest private real estate development in the history of the United States.
