Your 2016 Guide to E&E Exhibition & Experience Design Tours

The E&E, Exhibition & Experience Design event is only 2 weeks away, which means it's time to registerand sign up for tours! These SEGD exclusive tours of local DC exhibitions and experiences will be held the day after the E&E sessions, on Friday, August 19 from 9 am - 12 pm, and will be followed at 2 pm by a special experiential scavenger hunt brought to you by Gallagher & Associates! (Tours are an additional $75, the scavenger hunt is free of charge for attendees.)

E&E Tour Descriptions:

1. AIRBUS Visitors Center | led by Hornall Anderson 

Get a first-hand experience of how both airline and government VIPs experience the technology and innovation that AIRBUS offers to their customers and potential clients. This visitor’s center features a wide array of technology and media infused experiences designed to augment the AIRBUS brand while showcasing their aerospace offerings. Tour led by the design team at Hornall Anderson and their client AIRBUS. 

 

2. GO FLIGHT at the National Air and Space Museum | led by Bluecadet & NASM

Take a tour of GO FLIGHT, a new digital interactive experience launched with the Museum's recently renovated Boeing Milestones of Flight Hall. GO FLIGHT includes a 200 square foot interactive wall, an integrated mobile app, and a redesigned website that seamlessly connect visitors with the Museum's compelling stories of aviation and spaceflight. National Air and Space Museum and Bluecadet staff will share how the Museum's vision to connect with audiences inside and beyond the Museum walls resulted in a dynamic, scalable platform for storytelling and visitor engagement.

 

3. Museum of the Bible | led by C&G Partners

The Museum of the Bible is the next big museum to open up in Washington, D.C. Still under construction with completion slated for early 2017, this behind the scenes “hard-hat” tour is led by C&G Partners who are the exhibition designers for one of the museum's main gallery floors, the brand and museum signage.

 

4. National Museum of African American History and Culture | led by SmithGroupJJR

Designed by the architectural consortium of Freelon Adjaye Bond/SmithGroup, National Museum of African American History and Culture is the most anticipated museum addition to the National Mall, and is slated for opening this fall. Our tour will include both a visit to the office of SmithGroup and a hard-hat exterior site visit featuring insights from the design team with views of the museum complex’s stunning architecture and context.

 

5. National Museum of the American Indian | led by Ideum and NMAI

One of the more recent additions to the National Mall, the National Museum of the American Indian couples physical and digital exhibits, artifacts and stories in innovative and immersive learning spaces. Recent digital experiences include The Cusco Experience in the Great Inka Road: Engineering an Empire exhibit, featuring digital interactives that allow for the visualization and 3D navigation of recreated historical environments on large touchscreen tables. Led by the teams at Ideum and the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian.

 

6. White House Visitors Center | led by Color-Ad + Gallagher Associates

The recently reopened White House Visitors Center, designed by Gallagher Associates with exhibits fabricated by Color-Ad Inc. (both SEGD firms) features artifacts from the White House’s historical collection and media rich interactives about the most famous house in the world. Tour led by the design and fabrication team behind this exhibit.
