Vijay Mathews is Principal of W&Co., the New York-based digital design and development studio whose work focuses on digital interaction with the built environment. W&Co. provides strategy, interface design, development, and innovation for mobile and web platforms for a wide range of clients.
Since 2010, W&Co. has developed websites and mobile handheld apps that couple intuitive and sophisticated user experiences with trend-setting technology. With a strong background in wayfinding strategy applied to the mobile domain, Mathews and his partners at W&Co. have become thought leaders in the fast-growing specialization of digital wayfinding. Mathews has led projects for W&Co. clients including the School of Visual Arts, Wolff Olins, Hines, Harvard University, the Mercer County Park Commission, AIGA, and many others.
Prior to co-founding W&Co. with Chris Aeyung, Mathews was a senior designer at Two Twelve and before that, held design positions at WGBH and Hatch Show Print. He graduated from Boston University with a BFA in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, and Art History. In addition to being an SEGD thought leader, he is also a member of the Type Directors Club, the Art Directors Club, and IxDA.
