Vijay Mathews is a founding partner of W&CO, a studio focussed on civic-minded design and placemaking, with a passion for creating sophisticated, human-first solutions.
With extensive expertise in wayfinding strategy applied to the digital domain, Vijay is a leader in the fast-growing specialization of digital wayfinding. He has developed design systems for a variety of large-scale public environments, including for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the Mayor’s Office for Economic Opportunity, and New York City Departments of Parks & Recreation.
Vijay is an advocate for the role of technology in physical experiences and has offered his expertise and insights to organizations including the International Sign Association, SEGD, PRINT, and AIGA. His work has been featured in numerous publications including Design on Screen by Wang Shaoqiang, Designing Brand Identity by Alina Wheeler, and Numbers by Richard Fawcett-Tang.
