In response to historical racial injustice and the renewed calls for change across all institutions, eight members of SEGD have formed the organization’s first-ever Racial Justice Commission. Their mission: to advance racial justice within SEGD and the field of Experiential Graphic Design by serving  as an advisory group and providing guidance to committees, chapters, and staff—all in support of more inclusivity and accountability within the organization.

DLR Group welcomes experiential graphic designer Zach Kotel to the firm. He is a talented and versatile designer with nearly 10 years experience in wayfinding + signage packages, brand development campaigns, and experiential graphics projects for a variety of client types. Working from the firm’s Denver location, Kotel will lead project teams in art direction, design, and project management to elevate a client’s brand.

At ArtHouse Design (Denver), Zach Kotel plays a key role in business development, preparing proposals, presenting work and conducting stakeholder workshops. Kotel has won multiple distinctions for his design talents from Graphis, UCDA, the GDUSA American Graphic Design Awards and the HOW International Design Awards. He has been diligently working to elevate, engage and showcase the Denver design community since 2015 through his involvement with AIGA and SEGD, and is currently serving as SEGD Denver Chapter Chair.

Since 1987, the Society for Experiential Graphic Design, SEGD, has honored the individuals, companies, and institutions whose work has significantly advanced the environmental and experiential graphic design fields. This year, in place of the association’s annual conference and awards celebrations, SEGD will be hosting a series of virtual events, the 2020 SEGD Achievement Awards & Auction to celebrate our honorees, which will be held on June 24, 2020, at 7:00 PM EDT. Home.Hope! Online Art Exhibit Features Art Inspired by Time at Home

When work for Ink Lounge (Denver) owner, artist and screen printer Stuart Alden dried up due to the novel coronavirus outbreak, he reached out to artists in a similar situation to participate in an online art exhibit, each creating a work inspired by their time at home. The result is Home.Hope!, an online exhibit running through May 29, 2020. The show features 25 artists, with images screen printed by Ink Lounge and print sales directly supporting the artists and Access Gallery, a Denver nonprofit.

But designers and fabricators dig a challenge, right? The SEGD community is a truly special group of people from around the globe—bound together by their warm collegial comportment, and love of design excellence and shared experiences—who continue to find creative ways to connect, inspire and help others across their teams and across the globe.
