Kate Keating Associates (San Francisco) brought nature and nurture to the forefront of their comprehensive, family-centered experiential graphic design work at the new Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford.
The building identification provides a visual presence for the museum within the surrounding cityscape. Large-scale exterior signage was added to the two main entrances not just to increase visibility of the entrances, but to provide a visual link between the faces of two architecturally distinctive buildings with entrances on different streets. A warm red logo was installed on the new white façade on Howard Street and a white logo was placed on the existing warm red brick façade on Third Street.
Work is serious business, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun, too.
When cloud storage and content management company Box moved to new headquarters, they asked Sky Design to develop an interior wayfinding system for the 170,000-sq.-ft. space. Sky Design delivered more than an intuitive navigation system. They also integrated a bold graphic language that translates Box’s fun, collaborative and innovative brand spirit into the physical environment.

For hospitals, cultural institutions, and other non-profits that rely on generous donors to help build that new research facility or contemporary art wing, saying “thank you” graciously is vital. Effective donor recognition programs say it eloquently, and forever.
Made of tin cans, the donor wall for a food bank graphically represents the building's purpose and importance of donation. A simple grid identifies the donors by name and the size of their gifts. Sandblasted blue acrylic circles, painted on the backs of the cans, identify the donors. Clear acrylic circles are used to identify donor levels.
From the SEGD Archives, circa 2012: San Francisco’s most famous landmark turned 75 in 2011 and in honor of the occasion, as well as anticipation of the rush of visitors it would inspire, the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District (the bridge operator) partnered with the Golden Gate Bridge National Parks Conservancy to rethink the entire visitor experience.
