Dayton is a Design Principal who has championed Design Justice advocacy throughout his career at SmithGroup. As a leader of the firm’s Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, his charge is to lead design projects that address the systemic injustice that architecture and planning have perpetuated for historically disenfranchised communities of color.

Unlearning: Designing Inclusive Narrative Experiences

Dayton Schroeter, AIA, Design Principal, SmithGroup. Dayton heads the firm’s Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and leads  projects including the National Slavery Museum and Society’s Cage,an installation that sheds awareness on the effects of racism.

Clement Hamani, is a Japanese-American visual artist and Vice President of Exhibitions and Art Director at the Japanese American National Museum (JANM). Clement’s recent projects include curating exhibitions at JANM and his studio art specializing in New Genres.

Wisconsin Alumni Park

As an outdoor museum, a storytelling park, a sculpture garden and a festival green, Alumni Park is designed to create and capture the pride, joy and spirit of being a University of Wisconsin Badger. The scope included designing 1.3 acres of outdoor exhibits that seamlessly integrated "The Wisconsin Idea" into the park, reaffirming UW Alumni commitment to giving back and inspiring visitors to make a positive change in the world.
