JetBlue’s aviation-themed interactive play space at JFK’s Terminal 5i is designed to delight and educate children from age 2 to 12 with hands-on and digital activities, keeping them engaged and entertained while waiting to board their flights. Immersive environments allow kids to experience some roles of the airline crew and airport staff. In the "airplane cockpit," the cockpit simulator puts them in the pilot’s seat to safely fly a plane. In the airplane “cabin,” low-tech interactive pathfinders cater to the toddler set and promote the development of fine motor skills.
The Moveable Museum of the American Museum of Natural History brings interactive education to remote locations throughout the New York City area. Inside, children travel through the Gobi Desert and into a paleontologist's laboratory, all within the confines of a customized Winnebago. Every educational opportunity has been maximized through design. Exterior graphics include actual-size dinosaur renderings (allowing children to measure themselves against their favorite Jurassic creature). Simple interactives are combined with high-tech activities to engage varying ages and skill-levels.
The Endurance: Shackleton's Legendary Antarctic Expedition
The Endurance: Shackleton's Legendary Antarctic Expedition was the most comprehensive presentation ever mounted to describe the epic story of the 1914 expedition led by Sir Ernest Shackleton on the ship Endurance.
The goal of this exhibition is simple yet incredibly ambitious: to give visitors a sense of Einstein's revolutionary ideas. Einstein described phenomena – travel close to the speed of light, time as the fourth dimension – that cannot be represented accurately as three-dimensional exhibit elements. These concepts, however, can be explained through text, graphics, and media. Typography, color, and line drawings link and harmonize different sections.
The Gore story is enormously complex and rich with information. The developer and manufacturer of high-performance fluorocarbon polymers (including GORE-TEX®) assembled a multidisciplinary team of designers, architects, and fabricators to help translate the science behind its innovative products into a visible and understandable brand expression.
