What does a futurist digital archive, a light frieze on a brick building, an information exhibition, a wayfinding installation with inflatables, and a massive digital display doubling as an airport terminal have in common? All were awe-inspiring, game-changing projects recognized as the best of the best in the SEGD Global Design Awards.
The epic digital landscape at LAX’s new Tom Bradley International Terminal took top honors in the 2014 SEGD Global Design Awards. Art deco curtains part to reveal gold-toned dancers spinning inside a multi-tiered clock-like confection. Three-story-tall guitar strings quiver and plunk to the movements of passersby.
The new Tom Bradley International Terminal opened at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in September 2013, the first phase of a $1.9 billion upgrade to LAX’s international service. The LEED-Silver building was designed by Fentress Architects.
