David Woody will be leaving his position as Design Director for the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago for a new role as Creative Director for DreamWorks studio in Glendale, Calif. He will be responsible for the creative management of DreamWorks’ new division called Global Location Based Entertainment. The division will leverage its significant library of intellectual property across a wide variety of media that are all location based (theme parks, restaurants, exhibitions, live arena shows, theatricals, resorts, cruise ships, retail stores, etc).

Arrowstreet

Arrowstreet (Boston, Mass.) named four new principals in the firm. The promotion of architects David Bois, Amy Korte, Sean Selby, and Larry Spang acknowledges their leadership roles and substantial contributions to the practice of architecture. Each of these new principals brings a unique perspective to design, development, and management. Their diverse backgrounds add considerable value to Arrowstreet's work.

Carbone Smolan Agency

Carbone Smolan Agency (New York) created a website for international law firm Winston & Strawn that balances their vast range of practice area depth with a bold vision for what the next 160 years might bring. A distinct visual style simplifies complicated statistics and immediately engages the firm's online audience. Elements such as infographics and topical videos communicate powerful messages in a compelling way.

Harbinger

Harbinger (Jacksonville, Fla.) created and installed an 8-ft. by 36-ft. supergraphic wall for the Nemours Children’s Clinic, Fleming Island, Fla. The mural is a vividly colored, billboard-type super-graphic of a young girl “just being a kid, ” visually depicting Nemours’ brand idea. Harbinger used their wrapping film process, creating nine no-fade, no-peel, non-glare panels installed in perfect alignment to give a seamless look and positioned for maximum visibility.

Pentagram - Cathedral Church of St. John

Pentagram (worldwide) Partner Michael Bierut designed a new set of commandments for the four-legged friends of the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine in New York.  He designed the signs using his identity for the institution.

Paula Scher revisited her classic identity for Jazz at Lincoln Center, streamlining the original wordmark and expanding it into a new custom typeface called Jelly Roll.

Poulin + Morris - This is NPR

Poulin + Morris (New York) created a permanent, interactive lobby exhibition titled This is NPR for NPR’s new headquarters in Washington, D.C.  The 70-ft.-long exhibition, spanning the length of the new building’s lobby, consists of a reader rail supporting two tiers of angled panels displaying narrative text, images, video monitors, and interactive audio listening devices featuring detailed information about NPR. 

Studio SC

Studio SC(Seattle) is updating the exterior signage for the Washington State Convention Center. Several key locations will feature an updated logo in addition to new lighting applications designed to enhance the Convention Center’s street presence. Installation will be complete later this month.
