3M - Introduces 3M Envision™ Translucent Films

3M (St. Paul, Minn.) introduced 3M Envision™ Translucent Films and 3M Envision™ Diffuser Films, the first graphic films optimized for use with LEDs that let graphics manufacturers achieve maximum sign face brightness while requiring fewer light sources. Using these films, shops can achieve the same level of brightness with fewer LEDs, reducing material and maintenance costs while providing the look those customers expect.

Acorn Sign Graphics Designed LEED Icons for the United States Green Building Council

Acorn Sign Graphics (Richmond, Va.), a NovAcryl Preferred Fabricator, has designed a series of LEED icons for the United States Green Building Council. The icons can be easily incorporated as a graphic element, adding visual interest, quick recognition, and reinforcement of the many ways environmental stewardship is achieved.

Arrowstreet (Somerville, Mass.) has been busy with several charter school projects in their home state. Massachusetts' first brand-new charter school facility, Kipp Academy Lynn, is located on a challenging hilltop site overlooking downtown Lynn; Arrowstreet's design includes a gathering/cafeteria space at the heart of the new school with a high ceiling and south-facing window wall to create an open and airy common space.

Flagraphics

Flagraphics (Somerville, Mass.) announced the newest member of their family: the Vutek PV320.  The Vutek can print on all substrates up to two inches thick and 10 inches wide, including Sunbrella, Sintra, aluminum, Alumalite, foamcore, plywood, styrene, Coroplast, Lusterboard, Komatex PVC, GatorFoam, and more.

GKD-USA - Beijing Opera

GKD-USA (Cambridge, Md.) completed projects including 54,000 square feet of their transparent suspended partitions for the Beijing Opera. The product was chosen for its design but it also functions as a fireproof façade, reducing drafts and noise in an open environment.  Other recent projects include Phelps Dunbar’s office in Baton Rouge, La. (designed by Gensler) and the principal courtroom of the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg.

Gnu Group wayfinding program for the City of Davis

GNU Group (Lafayette, Calif.) designed a wayfinding program for the City of Davis, Calif.  In response to a stringent budget, the firm brought in the environmental graphics program at the University of California, Davis, extending the team’s local resources while providing a real-world experience for the students. GNU presented their own and student-designed designs to the city’s review committee.
