E-paper technology is best known for its use in eReaders around the world. But a unique collaboration between artist Nik Hafermaas of Ueberall International and E Ink Corporation—makers of E Ink Prism™, the eco-friendly, high-fidelity alternative to LED that powers the Kindle reader—has resulted in the world’s largest three-dimensional application of e-paper technology.
For her project as a graphic design student at ArtCenter College of Design, Pearlyn Lii aimed to push the boundaries between physical and digital space through an interactive installation dedicated to musician/composer Brian Eno.

He says there is no better place for innovation—and risk-taking—than XGD.
Nik Hafermaas is an international award-winning artist, designer, and educational leader. His Los Angeles-based artist platform Ueberall conceives and produces data-driven art installations converging digital media and spatial experiences. His artist team produced the data-driven sculptures eCLOUD for San Jose International Airport and Airfield for Atlanta International Airport and is currently creating landmark art pieces for the San Diego International Airport and for the new North Precinct Police Headquarters in Seattle.
