In this installment of Design To Go, Diane Burk travels to Spain, visiting the beautiful cities of Barcelona and Madrid. The biggest city on the Mediterranean, Barcelona is a cultural, economic, entertainment, educational and tourism center for Southern Europe. Madrid is the capital of Spain and the largest municipality in Spain as a whole—and boasts many of its historic buildings and districts kept intact.

This event component of Nike's largest ever marketing initiative evolved over years to represent an environmental, interactive, branded experience charged with bringing to life kids' passion for football and the brand through authentic athletic participation. Nike launched the Secret Tournament campaign to promote Nike Football with 24 elite football players, eight teams, and one rule – first goal wins! The scorpion became the symbol for these underground tournaments focusing on speed and creativity, with an emphasis on making every touch count.

Madrid Xanadu is the largest entertainment and retail destination in Europe and even includes Europe's largest indoor snow sports facility. The design objective was to create a world-class shopping and entertainment destination where architecture and design combine to engage imagination and create an exceptional experience.
