Design is a way of seeing. The handprint is mine; the texture of my hand is my unique "mark," but how the colors came out is random. This reminded me of my early design days—pre Apple Mac—when every part of the design process was "handmade."

The SEGD Wayfinding & Placemaking event in Philadelphia on August 1-2 is poised to bring participants and an international panel of speakers together to tour, connect, discuss and discover urban, regional, campus and transportation signage design.

Lucy Holmes

Lucy Holmes is a member of the 2018 SEGD Board and owner of Lucy Holmes Design in London.

Lucy has created design solutions and information graphics for wayfinding schemes including Tate Modern, The National Gallery, The V&A Museum and Albert Dock in Liverpool; interpretation graphics for several exhibitions at the Tower of London; and an information graphics strategy for Virgin Atlantic.
