Kaiser Permanente

Art and Healing in Healthcare Environments, Part 2: Community and Storytelling

Antelope Valley Medical Center, Lancaster, Calif.

When Kaiser Permanente planned its new Antelope Valley Medical Center in the windy desert region north of Los Angeles, it envisioned more than a place for sick people. Kaiser and local residents wanted a “total health environment” and a community gathering space. A unique partnership between two experience design firms resulted in a super-scaled public art program that connects people, place and experience by telling the community’s story.
