After six and a half years SEGD's Director of Education, Justin Molloy, has decided to leave SEGD to join CityID. Justin has done a fantastic job helping to elevate SEGD's website, events and the activities of the Academic Task Force, which include the Academic Summit and peer reviewed academic papers and the Academic Journal - Communication+Place.
We will miss Justin and hope you will join us in wishing him well in his new position.
NEW YORK—The final event of 2018 New York Digital Signage Week,SEGD’s eighth-annual digital experiential design gathering, Xlab, will be held in Brooklyn for the first time—at the BRIC arts and media center. This year’s theme, “The Future of Storytelling for Place,” will focus on the design practitioners, visionaries, methodologies and technologies bringing immersive and interactive storytelling to life.
NEW YORK—SEGD’s Xlab returns this November to New York as the final event of New York Digital Signage Week.This year’s theme, “Experience Design in the Era of Disruption,” will showcase how disruption in all businesses and industry verticals is impacting experiential graphic design and the way people are using and interacting with places and spaces.
This year’s decision to bring the topic of Branded Environments to DSE was made to strategically expose as wide an audience as possible to the value that brand integration brings to environments, spaces, communities and places. That clearly resonated with attendees with an increase of over 50% in registrations.
In February SEGD asked the profession about their training needs. The input will be used ensure that the SEGD education program is better tuned to the needs of the profession. The results are in and reveal some interesting observations about how the profession looks at training.
For the third year, Communication+Place has featured the latest peer-reviewed experiential design research innovation coming from leading global academic institutions.
Attendees at DesignX—SEGD’s design-focused event at Digital Signage Expo 2016—will get a double-value experience: Heads (filled) up during a full-day workshop on planning and designing digital user experiences, and hands-on during a guided morning tour of the DSE 2016 show floor, where they’ll get to see, touch and feel the latest digital technology products, platforms and applications.
