Finding one’s way through the streets of New York when coming up out of the subway or walking through an unfamiliar neighborhood can be confusing, even for the most seasoned New Yorker. WalkNYC is a new program of pedestrian maps that makes it easier for New York’s 8.5 million residents and 50 million yearly visitors to navigate the city streets.
Moscow’s vision is to build a world-class, dual-language, multi-modal transportation network to improve the experience of the city for citizens and visitors alike. To help realize this vision, the Moscow Department of Transport (DOT) commissioned City ID to create a unifying visual identity and wayfinding system to seamlessly integrate all forms of movement across the city.
Jason Smith is a projects director at City ID. City ID chooses an urbanist and information design approach, based on understanding how cities work from a planning perspective and putting the user first, developing unique design, information and wayfinding solutions to fully integrate people, movement and places. Among their works are identity, information and transportation systems for the cities of Bristol, Dublin, Manchester, Newcastle.
