SEGD’s two-day mini-series, Wayfinding + Placemaking NOW, addressed the design of wayfinding systems and public spaces that feel safe and welcoming in our current global crises: the health pandemic, social unrest, economic volatility, and environmental decline. This is the moment when designers are being called on to reimagine public spaces, and present solutions for engaging and connecting to the places that surround us. The responses were illuminating.

Last fall, educators Don Norman and Michael Meyer were in the thick of writing “Changing Design Education for the 21st Century” when the novel coronavirus struck. Their deeply considered research was published in late February in the Spring edition of "She Ji: The Journal of Design, Economics, and Innovation," from Tongji University Press, and more broadly in April across social media channels.

What began as a live management and leadership event in Cincinnati became SEGD’s first full-day virtual event offering—complete with virtual tote bag!

On Thursday April 23 and Friday April 24, amidst sheltering in place, SEGD’s “Management & Leadership: Take 20” gave a virtual stage to 19 local and international speakers, in service of 86 participants, from design students to thought leaders.
