Inspired to create a deeper connection to the world we all share, as well as the knowledge that we need to make more sustainable decisions to support that connection, this team of volunteers from NBBJ, Berger Partnership and GLY sought to create an installation at the Seattle Design Festival that would have a net-positive climate impact as well as a social impact.

Substations are critical to a city’s power supply, but they are often eyesores. The Denny Substation, which is the first Seattle substation to be built in 30 years, is positioned to usher in a new paradigm of urbanism by engaging its citizens with public infrastructure. Seattle City Light is set to be the nation’s greenest utility, fully integrated educational information intends to promote this as well as the facility’s commitment to environmental and social equity.

The F5 Tower is the new headquarters for F5 Networks, a savvy tech firm with a quirky personality. The 28-floor tenant space is located in downtown Seattle, the center of a booming tech ecosystem. F5 sought to establish an environment that enabled their unique culture and skilled employees to thrive.

NBBJ Proposes Wayfinding System for Crisis Management

NBBJ has published a timely blog and developed an open source system of temporary signage to help hospitals with patient organization and wayfinding during the pandemic.

Due to the ever evolving and critical aspect of time during the fight against COVID-19, hospitals around the world are having to rapidly adapt their facilities to accommodate testing, infection control, and inpatient care. Eric LeVine and his team at NBBJ have proposed a wayfinding system for COVID-19 to help direct patients to the right place.
