A worldwide leader in the metals, minerals and mining industries, Traxys story is brought to life in their 30,000 square-foot Manhattan Headquarters. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed into the space with a digitally enabled mineral specimen display that showcases ten of the most prominent minerals for the company’s business. The scope of the project included interior architectural design, digital experience, signage & wayfinding, interiors programming, and workplace strategy.

Managing Collaborations - Building Teams Across Disciplines, Mike McCarthy, DCL

 

Mike McCarthy is Vice President at Design Communications Ltd. (DCL), an internationally recognized custom manufacturer of architectural specialty products. He received a dual degree from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, where he double majored in Mechanical Engineering and Visual Art. Mike joined DCL in 1999 as a member of the engineering department.  He now directly oversees DCL’s Boston and New York offices.

With the blank canvas of a brand-new 21,000-square-foot home in Santa Monica Place retail center, the Cayton Children’s Museum had a unique opportunity to expand its offerings and engage new local and international audiences. Given the overall mission to teach community values and inspire a sense of inclusion and social responsibility through immersive and imaginative play, the design firm was challenged to help Sharewell conceive of the museum’s new branding, iconography, design palette, collateral (both digital and print) as well as the naming of multiple components of the museum.

Pipefitter Association Local 537 is a 100 year-old construction trade association, representing over 3,000 members, working on pipefitting, welding and HVAC/refrigeration projects of all shapes and sizes throughout Massachusetts. Their two existing buildings—built in 1880 and 1964—were outdated, uninspiring and uninviting.
