LA Live

Nokia Center - LA Live Plaza

Times Square West

L.A. Live’s high-energy “content plaza” adds a new spark to Los Angeles’ up-and-coming downtown.

Things are looking up for Los Angeles’ long-maligned downtown, and the L.A. Live retail/entertainment district is the newest spark in the revitalization efforts.

The Block at Orange

Merit Award
The Block at Orange, The Mills Corporation, CommArts

The Block at Orange is the first of a new brand of entertainment/retail centers to be rolled out across the country. With more than 70 percent of The Block's square footage dedicated to entertainment and 30 percent to retail, the space is reminiscent of the world's great city blocks, such as Times Square, Pier 39 and Merles Avenue. The conceptual design intent was to create an atmosphere that celebrates the high-energy, active outdoor California lifestyle.

Anaheim Resort Signage Program

Merit Award
Anaheim Resort Signage Program, CommArts

In creating the Anaheim Resort district, the City recognized the negative impact of the visual clutter created by the chaotic proliferation of signs competing for the visitor's attention along Harbor Boulevard and Katella Avenue. The design challenge was to create a new identity and signage program that could create a coherent and aesthetically pleasing vision for consensus and action.
