Newhouse, New Media

At Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications, a double marriage between media and content, tradition and innovation.

It’s hard to imagine a better venue for celebrating the medium and the message than Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. One of the premiere mass communications schools in the U.S., Newhouse is both a bastion of the principles of free press and a beta site for education in the digital era.

Luleå, Irina Nakhova

Artificial Shrubbery was a public art installation at the Luleå International Sculpture Biennale in northern Sweden, in the outdoor garden area of Nordbatten Museum. The artist's intent was to create an interactive piece mixing images and objects of what the viewer would define as natural, within obvious forms of human-made objects. A confrontation between material, sight, and sound results in beautiful flowers as square boxes, a wave as a floating triangle, and a woman in a pleasing environment defined by flat surfaces.

Target Boat, Random Productions

What to do during the holidays – if you are a retailer without a location in New York City? Rent one. Mega-retailer Target rented a large tourist cruise ship and located it on the West Side at Chelsea Piers on the Hudson River.

Creating a hip and fun Target shopper's experience within a smaller than typical space came with many challenges: traffic flow, wayfinding, and expediting the shopping experience without rushing anyone, to name a few.

Newhouse III is the 74,000-sq.-ft. addition to the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University. The original building, designed by I.M. Pei, was completed in 1964 and the second building was completed in 1974. The addition allows the school to expand its education and research missions with a new facility focused on interdisciplinary study.
