FIU Miami Beach Urban Studios

The Miami Beach Urban Studios builds upon the vision of the College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts by utilizing the innovation, community engagement, and expertise afforded by its participating faculty members, facilities, and location to be at the forefront of teaching, research, and service in art, design, performance, and communication.

Neeta Verma

Neeta Verma is Associate Professor in Visual Communication Design at the University of Notre Dame. A graphic designer, story teller and a social advocate by profession, she has over 25 years of professional experience working exclusively for not-for-profits, museums and cultural institutions in New York, Albuquerque and India. As a graphic designer, she describes her role as a catalyst within a societal context, a solution finder, and an experience creator.

Victoria Baird

Victoria Baird is an interpretive designer with a focus on creating exhibits that make connections between communities and nature. She recently completed her MFA in Design at UC Davis, completing several temporary outdoor exhibitions about the Putah Creek Ecosystem. These exhibits weave together elements of prototyping, community design, scientific research and spectacle. She has also worked for the last 8 years as an Interpretive Park Ranger with the National Park Service and the East Bay Regional Park District.

Kathleen Meaney

Kathleen Meaney is a designer and educator whose writing has been published through the AIGA, Design Observer, Icograda and UnderConsideration. She began her career at Pentagram in New York, and since then, has been a dedicated professor at the School of Visual Arts, North Carolina State University, College of Design, and the University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning. Her course offerings have been cited in NASAD’s “The Future of Design and Design Education.” Find KT in HOW Books' Women of Design and Chronicle Books' Design School Wisdom.

Julia Seo

Julia Seo is a visual designer from Toronto who is obsessed with finding methods to visualize the process of complex problems. She focuses on exploring ways to apply design thinking to understand problems at high-level and in detail for healthcare organizations. Julia graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Design with Honors degree from the York University/Sheridan College Program in Design. She currently works as a designer at Coactuate, a strategic design consultancy in Toronto focused on helping healthcare organizations innovate and grow.
