Richard has 14 years of experience in the DFW Airport Planning Department, with a focus on airport signage, traffic signals, and special projects. He is currently involved in DFW’s $2B Terminal Renewal and Improvement Program (TRIP) which is replacing all interior signage for four (4) terminals and a new 7700 car parking garage. To address the needs of TRIP, Richard has created an airport-wide Wayfinding Master Plan and Signage Standards Manual.
He has been involved in the design and installation of DFW’s airport-wide roadway signage replacement program. This $22.86M project started in 2001 and was completed in 2008 -- over 12,000 signs were replaced.
Richard’s background includes 27 years as Traffic Operations Manager for the City of Carrollton, TX and 14 years as Project Manager for DFW Airport’s Planning Department. He holds certifications for Signs, Markings, and Traffic Signals from the International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) and has a Texas Journeyman Electrician License. He has served on the Executive Board of Directors for IMSA, which has over 15,000 members; the Board of Directors for IMSA Educational Foundation; and as a committee member for ASTM reflective sheeting, NEMA TS2 standards, and MUTCD updates. He is also a member of the Steering Committee for the Airport Sign Managers Network (ASMN).
