Richard Cassis never takes it easy. Or for granted. He firmly believes that connecting with an audience requires rearranging the synapses. The result: images and designs that don’t just tell stories, they rewrite them. His work as owner of sparc, inc., has created brands – and an intimate dialogue with audiences for The Joffrey Ballet, Herman Miller, Chicago’s Center on Halsted, Walter E. Smithe Furniture, Perkins+Will, Komori, the City of St.Cloud, Minnesota and many other towns and centers.
Richard Cassis began his career just over 20 years ago in the studios of the University of Michigan (Magna Cum Laude BFA), then moved on to produce work for corporations, universities, not-for-profits, and arts organizations. The awards have come in a steady stream: American Graphic Design Awards, Communication Arts, Print Magazine Annual, STA, Graphis, American Society of Landscape Architects and more. Richard also gives back – to DIFFA Chicago as a Board Member and AIGA and is also a member of SEGD. But at the end of the day he believes his best works are his kids. That’s why they’re the stars of his business cards.
Richard Cassis serves on the DIFFA Chicago (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) Executive Board as the Secretary and is the Brand Design Sponsor to DIFFA Events. He has been a DIFFA Chicago Board Member since 2008. Richard also serves on his hometown's Winnetka Parks Foundation (since 2009) and is also a Brand Design Sponsor for the foundation's annual event Party on the Pier. He has also volunteered time and his design and print experience to the local Boy Scout Troop as a Graphic Arts Merit Badge Counselor.
