Peter Bain is a designer working from a deep background in the application of typography to solve design challenges. His experience includes environmental graphic design, brand identity, custom letterforms, books and publications, advertising, and marketing communications. He has worked across a wide range of sectors, from financial services to sports marketing, and from academic and cultural organizations to pharmaceuticals and real estate.
Peter Bain’s creative work has been recognized by AIGA and the Type Directors Club; and published in Communication Arts and Eye, The International Review of Graphic Design. He has researched transit maps and graphic design history, was co-curator for the Herb Lubalin Study Center of Design and Typography at The Cooper Union School of Art; and his work is in library collections at Princeton University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Prior to founding his own studio, Peter Bain was Type Director at Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising in New York. He has taught at schools including Mississippi State University, Parsons School of Design/The New School, Pratt Institute, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham; made presentations in the U.S. and abroad; and led workshops on typography and lettering.
