Paul McConnell is Associate Director of Experience Design at Arup

Paul is a strategy and design leader focused on using design methods and technology to solve human, business, and civic problems. As a leader of Arup’s Global Experience Design Practice, he guides global multidisciplinary teams to shape innovative digital products, services, spaces, and urban scale strategies. Using design methods to help address a range of issues from how we experience spaces to how design can help support wide sustainability goals.

Paul has experience leading team and organizations through every stage of the concept, development, and delivery process. Clients include the MTA Subways, Transport for London, Network Rail, UK Dept of Energy, The National Trust, Foreign Commonwealth Office, Alphabet, Verizon, LinkNYC, Delta / LaGuardia Airport, JFK Airport, The Smithsonian, MoMA, Related, Stanhope, and others. Paul joined Arup, from Intersection (Sidewalk Labs), where he established advisory and product design practices.

Paul has served as a visiting professor at Pratt Institute, Cornell Tech, The School of Visual Arts, and UA Maker.
