Patrick “Duffy” De Armas is an artist, maker of things, and creative force majeure. He is also the entrepreneurial might behind the art-based creative firm Electric Coffin CS Co. and gallery space Piranha shop. Patrick "Duffy" De Armas curates and organizes the annual and hugely popular traveling group show Boxes of Death, which continues to grow beyond the wildest dreams of those who began the project.
Electric Coffin is a process-driven studio, coming from a long lineage of high craftsmanship and material-based making. The conceptual narrative defines each project and how the team moves through it. They generally work with architects and developers to create new spaces or to develop fine art installations on large-scale projects.
Patrick "Duffy" De Armas' personal work is a steeped in the influences of American classic car culture, motorcycles, hot rods, and mid-20th century advertising design. Anchored by undeniable design principles, his pieces are remarkable and driven by an unharnessed creative soul. He makes beautiful mixed-media collages that layer fragments of various designs on top of one another in the pursuit of building a contemporary understanding of niche cultures and time periods.
