Oen Michael Hammonds, a designer, mentor, and Design Principal at IBM, has designed across the gamut—services, advertising, graphic, interactive, and environmental. Oen's current work with diverse clients in the consumer, business, and technology industries demonstrates his ability to jump in and solve tough and complex challenges. He has over 20 years of experience in the design of visual and UI/UX systems, guest lectures at Austin Community College and the University of Texas at Austin, and sits on numerous industry boards.
At IBM, Oen works with the Employee Experience Design team to drive the design and implementation of impactful IBM HR experiences by increasing alignment and integration between HR programs, organizations, and tools while focusing on the needs of employees, first-line, and upline managers. In this role, Oen works with his team to facilitate strategic projects and Enterprise Design Thinking workshops that transform IBM HR to build iconic products and services with human-centered experiences.
Outside of his 9-to-5, Oen teaches design as an adjunct instructor and has shared his design experience at a variety of colleges and universities throughout the country. He is a passionate mentor to early and mid-career design practitioners and enjoys sharing his stories of failures and successes with those who are willing to listen to his Southern drawl.
