Nikki San Miguel is currently a Principal at Kate Keating Associates where she has worked for the past 10 and a half years. She joined the firm in 2008 and rapidly emerged as a talented leader, client communicator, and problem solver. She has a passion for developing signage and wayfinding systems that complement the surrounding architecture while emphasizing clarity and consistency as the most effective ways to guide users to their destination. She has an intuitive understanding of how people navigate their environment and thrives on collaborating with large teams on complex projects. Nikki is an informed advocate for emerging technologies and champions projects that incorporate digital solutions as part of the overall signage program. Her projects include Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, Sutter Health CPMC Van Ness Campus Hospital, Salesforce Tower Ohana Floors, Netflix Headquarters, and Palace of Fine Arts.
Before working at Kate Keating Associates, Nikki developed her design skills and knowledge through education and several design internships as a student at The Ohio State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Visual Communication Design with a Minor in Business. In her senior year, she was exposed to the world of EGD through an Environmental Graphic Design Internship with Design Collective Incorporated where she assisted the team with schematics, signage standards, construction drawings, renderings, and final artwork for a variety of hospitality and civic projects. Since then, she has been passionate about designing for the built environment and helping people navigate through complex spaces.
