New Wayfinding for New Second Avenue Subway by C&V-E

Second Avenue Subway

First conceived nearly a century ago, the first segment of the Second Avenue Subway opened in January 2017 with the completion of its first phase. This includes the expansion of the 63rd Street/Lexington Ave station as well as three new stations at 72nd Street, 86th Street and 96th Street. Calori & Vanden-Eynden (New York) worked closely with the MTA and the design team to implement a signage and wayfinding program into the distinctively different stations.

Amid stunning architecture and impressive works of public art riders easily find their way thanks to the fully integrated signage and wayfinding system. The sign program reinforces and extends the MTA’s branded Subway graphics system.
