Nathan Hill is partner and design lead at Spaeth Hill, a firm he and Jill Spaeth established in 2018. After collaborating for several years, the two joined forces to establish a forward-thinking design-build practice specializing in brand experiences, signage programs and curated moments.
Nathan’s career began at a boutique design studio in Georgetown focusing on branding and publication design. In the early 2000’s he pivoted to digital design and information architecture for prominent advertising agencies. In 2007 he became the lead design consultant for PBS managing a team of designers working on the network’s rebranding initiative. In 2011 he designed the first PBS video app for Apple earning a Webby award for excellence in design.
In 2010 Nathan started his practice Nh.d Studio where he returned to his roots in branding and publication design. The studio was influenced by Nathan’s interest in expressive and experimental design. The work produced at Nh.d included textile design, furniture design and fabrication, custom art installations and commercial and retail space design.
In 2011 Nathan joined the board of directors for DC’s AIGA chapter where he served as Education Director. Nathan earned his BFA at the Corcoran College of Art and design and is currently a design instructor and lecturer at George Washington’s Corcoran School of Art where he teaches in the BFA department. Nathan frequently guest lectures at local colleges including Maryland Institute College of Art.
