Tanisi Ghosh

Hailing from the city of dreams in India to moving to the city of dreams in the United States, I have come a long way. I was 19 when my family brought me to visit New York City, and took me for my first Broadway show. I, a passionate design student, was left speechless after the experience. The dynamic sets, the alluring production, the captivating lighting- it all blew me away. That’s when I realized my love for lighting and experience design. I went back to India and got the opportunity to work for some esteemed institutions such as Condé Nast India, Tiger baby films and 5Queue; a renowned set design firm. There, I had the honor to help design and execute a set for Disney India’s television show, ‘Imagine That: Season 2’. From drawing the first sketch of that set to watching it come alive on screen for the first time, it was extremely fulfilling. Alongside pursuing these dreams, I continued studying Fashion Communication at India’s finest- the National Institute of Fashion Technology. It was a challenging but enthralling four years, and it all came together when I was recently awarded the Most Innovative Graduation Project Award. Coming to New York City to pursue further studies was always on the vision board and Fashion Institute of Technology was always the dream. I feel extremely thankful to be saying that I am now a student of the dynamic Exhibition and Experience Design program at FIT. I am driven, motivated and excited to learn alongside my magnificent colleagues, the outstanding faculty and all the magic that the city has to offer. I am excited to dive deeper into human centric design, eccentric experiences and marvelous lighting. I am so thrilled to be here, to connect with all of you, and to see where this journey takes me!
