Mia Azar is a lecturer at the American University of Beirut’s Architecture and Design Department, where she has taught various practical and visual design courses to undergraduate students since 2013. In 2010, she joined PenguinCube, an award-winning design consultancy in Beirut with projects ranging from brand design to product design, with a core expertise in wayfinding and signage.
Drawing on her knowledge in graphic, publication and information design, Mia Azar works on interdisciplinary projects, alongside scientific and design research, combining the various mediums of product, space, and technology with an aim to extend how design can influence social and cultural environments.
In her various roles at PenguinCube, including creative director, Mia worked on two projects that received SEGD’s Honor Award; Book Shelf (2012) and Alserkal Arrows (2016).
Mia completed her MA in Spatial & Product Design at Kingston University London in 2009 after obtaining her BFA in Graphic Design from the American University of Beirut.
