Carol Newsom is the founder of Newsom Gonzalez in Los Angeles.
Carol Newsom has been a designer in the Los Angeles area since 1976, establishing Newsom Design in 1980. She grew up in the Midwest and earned a BFA from Drake University, and an MA from Pennsylvania State University. Carol Newsom has taught at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Cal Poly Pomona, Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, Boston Museum School, and Drake University. She has also lectured at Cal Poly Pomona, Washington University (St. Louis), Drake University and Intel Corporate Headquarters; and has been artist-in-residence at the University of Maine.
One of the founders of the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts, Carol Newsom has served as VP of Education, organizing events for Los Angeles area design students and faculty. She has also served on the board of The Architectural Foundation of Los Angeles and is a member of the Society of Environmental Graphic Design. She currently serves on the Graphic Design advisory panel for Woodbury University Department of Design.
