Matt Usi is an initial and current member of the Advanced Technology and Interactives/ Research and Development (ATI/R&D) team at COMCAST/ Universal Creative overseeing Technical Program delivery for upcoming products, attractions, and immersive experiences.
Before his time at Universal Creative, Matt served multiple roles at Walt Disney Imagineering, including practical Special Effects and illusions design, Interactive product engineering, and as a Senior Technical Director overseeing the development of multidiscipline, global project deployments.
As a graduate of the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television, focusing on Interactive and Experiential Design in Theatrical Arts, Matt has focused his career on identifying, developing, and exploring technology/methods that foster inclusivity within interactive experiences.
Much of his work with major studios and themed entertainment design firms centers around striking a balance between generating personal connections with stories and commercial needs within entertainment design applications. Much of Matt’s success is his ability to bring together a unique alchemy of artists, designers, engineers, and other subject matter experts to achieve the monumental task of making impossible ideas come to life. The combination of his deeply rooted background in Theatrical Design and expertise in emerging technology has resulted in a unique, award-winning portfolio of work that spans partnerships with cultural institutions and major Intellectual Properties within the worlds of gaming, motion pictures, and design.
