Give back to the local community by joining the popular Design Improv(e) workshop at the 2017 SEGD Conference Experience Miami.Participants in this short charrette will hone their design skills to create a donor wall and building signage for the Lotus Endowment Fund’s Lotus Village, a mixed-use “village” with combined state of the art shelter facilities and supportive services serving homeless individuals and families in Greater Miami.
“In Lotus Village, we seek to create a prototype for the future, in which shelter and services for those in need are fully integrated with the urban fabric of the neighborhood we call home,” says Isabella Dell’Oca, program director for Lotus Village. “In addition to offering increased capacity with efficient design and land utilization, Lotus Village will include a holistic neighborhood health clinic and children’s day care and wellness center, serving Lotus House and our community.”
Dell’Oca will join moderators Linda Feinberg (Linda Feinberg Design) and Kenneth Rasco (Gensler) for the June 10 workshop.
“When researching potential nonprofits to select for the 2017 SEGD Conference Experience Miami Improv(e), we were impressed not only by their mission, but also by the fact that they are embarking on building their innovative new mixed-use ‘village’ that will reshape their offerings,” explains Anna Crider-Sharp, 2017 SEGD Conference Chair. “It was perfect timing and an unbelievable opportunity to make a difference.”
Design Improv(e) provides a unique setting for designers from all generations to connect, learn from each other and put their creative visions into reality for a worthwhile organization in the local conference community. “By focusing our talents on this project for two hours, we can collectively make a huge impact on the lives of countless women, youth and children,” adds Crider-Sharp.
