Hello! My name is MacKenzie McCallum, and I recently graduated from North Carolina State University’s College of Design with a graphic design degree. My experiences with the College of Design have allowed me to learn about exhibition design, user experience, branding, wayfinding, and more.
Experiential graphic design hooked my attention during a studio assignment where my class had the opportunity to help design a new museum exhibition for a virtual reality experience, and I’ve been exploring it ever since! My favorite thing about experiential graphic design is how many different disciplines come together to create human-centered spaces that make everyday life better.
Outside of the classroom I've also gained experience in marketing, designing for a brand, and public relations through my internships with Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines and Zift Solutions. Figuring out new ways to present ideas is one of my favorite parts of design, and I have a huge passion for storytelling and creative problem solving.
In my free time, I'm a huge fan of taking on new challenges and exploring new things! Whether it's trying my hand at archery, going rock climbing and ice skating with my friends, or traveling to new places, I’m always excited to explore. If you'd like to talk, or have any questions for me, I'd be glad to hear from you!
Where in the world would you like to work?
I'd like to stay in the United States working on human-centered design and making experiences better through design.
Who is your favorite designer ever? And what one question would you ask them?
My favorite designer is Mary Blair, and I would ask what her favorite project was from her career, and why?
