Lukas Fitze
Lukas Fitze joined iart, an award-winning immersive design & engineering studio headquartered in Basel in 2017. He runs the company’s New York outpost and works with the Basel office to develop global strategy. iart has built a reputation for seamless integration of the digital into the built environment, generally pairing with architects, artists, developers, museums, and brands to realize creative visions using emerging technologies, and enhanced interactivity. Notable works include the poetic night sky facade and and lyrical approximation of hydrogen fueled mobility for the Hyundai Pavilion at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang— a collaboration with Asif Khan; the “high tech / no tech” Light Frieze Facade for the Kunstmuseum Basel with Christ & Gantenbein; and interactive books for Fondation Beyeler’s Paul Gauguin exhibit.
A Swiss transplant to New York, Lukas started his career at Publics (Zurich); cut his teeth with New York advertising shops like Ogilvy & Mather, and FCB Publicis. With the advent of digital technology, he evolved into new roles, starting with business development and brand positioning for MCI Music World, a pioneering digital entertainment start up. Expanding his oeuvre into nation branding and public diplomacy for the Swiss Foreign Ministry, he began producing business and cultural initiatives, as well directing strategy for a wide range of clients in the arenas of architecture, art, tech and academia. Standout projects include Spacebuster: We Like America with raumlaborBerlin, Storefront for Art & Architecture, and the City of Berlin; the critically acclaimed Robert Frank documentary, Don’t Blink (as an associate producer); and the ETH Pavilion for New Museum’s 2016 IDEA City Festival.
iart generally pairs with architects, artists, developers, museums, and brands to realize their creative visions. By taking on complex engineering challenges, and applying emergent technologies, we’ve built a reputation for seamlessly integrating the digital into the built environment.
Aside from his iart mandate, Lukas also represents ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) in New York.
